Dolby Atmos Cinema Room– Radlett
For this project in Radlett, The AV Guys transformed a dedicated room into an impressive home cinema, proving that you don't have to spend a fortune to create a genuinely immersive big-screen experience at home.
At the heart of the room is a 7.2 Dolby Atmos surround sound system using Monitor Audio speakers, carefully positioned to create an immersive soundstage around the seating area. The front left and centre speakers were installed in-wall behind an acoustically transparent projection screen, allowing dialogue and effects to come directly from the picture while keeping the front of the cinema clean and uncluttered.
For the visuals, we installed a BenQ 4K projector, delivering a large, detailed 4K image that gives the room the scale and impact you'd expect from a proper cinema. The audio system is powered and controlled by a Marantz AV amplifier, bringing the surround speakers, Atmos channels and dual subwoofers together for powerful, room-filling sound.
Careful speaker positioning, equipment selection and system setup allowed us to achieve a fantastic balance between performance, appearance and budget. By hiding key speakers behind the acoustic screen and integrating the technology neatly into the room, the focus stays exactly where it should be – on the film.
This installation is a great example of how a professionally designed home cinema doesn't have to cost the earth. Stunning 5.1 Cinema Room - Hertford
For this home cinema project in Hertford, The AV Guys created a dedicated 5.1 surround sound cinema room designed to deliver the big-screen experience at home while keeping the technology neatly integrated and out of sight.
At the front of the room, we installed an acoustically transparent projection screen, allowing the front speakers to be positioned in-wall directly behind the screen. This creates a clean, professional finish with no visible speakers surrounding the picture, while helping dialogue and on-screen effects feel as though they're coming directly from the action.
A 5.1 surround sound system provides immersive audio throughout the room, with carefully positioned speakers creating a balanced soundstage across the seating area. Combined with a dedicated subwoofer, the system delivers everything from clear dialogue and subtle background detail through to the deeper impact you'd expect from action films and blockbuster soundtracks.
For the picture, we installed an Epson 4K projector, providing a large, detailed image that completely changes the experience compared with watching on a conventional television. With the lights down and the projector fired up, the room becomes a dedicated space for enjoying films, box sets, live sport and gaming on the big screen.
By combining in-wall speakers, an acoustic screen, 5.1 surround sound and 4K projection, we were able to create a cinema that looks clean and understated when not in use but delivers a completely different experience when the film starts. Cinema Room Under Construction– Cottered

Here’s a look at one of our home cinema installations currently taking shape in Cottered. The aim with this project is to create an immersive 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos cinema experience while keeping the technology discreetly integrated into the room, allowing the space to work just as well when the cinema isn't in use.
A motorised in-ceiling projector screen forms a key part of the design, remaining completely hidden when not required and lowering into position at the touch of a button for movie nights. This is paired with a BenQ 4K projector to provide the large-screen picture and cinematic feel you'd expect from a dedicated home theatre.
For audio, we're installing a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos system using Monitor Audio speakers, powered by a Marantz AV amplifier. Careful speaker positioning provides surround sound around the seating area, while the additional Atmos channels introduce height effects for a much more immersive listening experience.
We're also bringing the entire room together with a UControl remote control system. Rather than reaching for several different remotes, the finished cinema will provide straightforward control of the projector, screen, amplifier and other AV equipment from one easy-to-use system.
Lighting is just as important to the cinema experience, so the room also features Lutron lighting control for the LED and wall lighting. This allows different lighting scenes to be created for watching films, entertaining or simply relaxing, as well as helping set the atmosphere before the movie even starts.
With the installation still a work in progress, there's more to come, but the combination of 4K projection, Dolby Atmos audio, automated screen, intelligent lighting and whole-room control is already coming together to create a cinema that's immersive when you want it to be, while remaining a practical and stylish room for everyday use.
Living room Ultra Short Throw Cinema - Cuffley
You don't need a dedicated cinema room or a complicated AV system to enjoy a proper big-screen experience at home. For this installation, The AV Guys created a simple and stylish living room cinema setup, combining a huge 125-inch screen, a Hisense UST projector and a Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar.
The Hisense Ultra Short Throw projector delivers an impressive 125-inch image while sitting just a short distance from the screen. With no conventional projector mounted on the ceiling or at the back of the room, the setup remains clean and unobtrusive – making it a great solution for bringing a large-scale cinema experience into an everyday living space.
For sound, we installed a Sonos Arc Ultra, providing immersive room-filling audio without the need for multiple speakers, an AV amplifier or additional equipment around the room. The simplicity of the Sonos system also keeps everything straightforward and easy for the whole family to use.
The finished setup gives the homeowner the best of both worlds: a comfortable living room for everyday use and a massive 125-inch screen for movie nights, live sport, gaming and box sets when it's time to sit back and enjoy the big screen.
This project shows that home cinema doesn't need to be complicated or cost the earth. A carefully chosen Hisense UST projector, large-format screen and Sonos audio can completely transform a living room while keeping the installation simple, tidy and easy to enjoy.

Cinema Room Under Construction 2027 – Bishops Stortford
A first look at a cosy dedicated cinema room currently in development and set to be completed in 2027. The aim for this project is to create a comfortable, inviting space that delivers a genuine cinema experience at home without making the room feel overly technical or complicated.
The finished cinema will feature a large-screen 4K projection system, bringing films, box sets and live sport to life on the big screen. This will be complemented by a carefully designed 5.1 surround sound system, with speakers positioned around the seating area to provide clear dialogue, immersive effects and plenty of impact when the soundtrack demands it.
Smart lighting will also play an important part in the finished room, allowing different lighting scenes to completely change the atmosphere. From softly illuminated lighting while choosing a film to dimmed cinema lighting when the movie begins, everything will be designed to make the room feel warm, comfortable and easy to enjoy.
As a dedicated cinema space, careful consideration is being given to the screen position, speaker placement, seating and lighting to make sure all the different elements work together rather than simply filling the room with equipment.
There's still more to come before this one is finished in 2027, but once complete, it will be a cosy escape where the owners can close the door, dim the lights and enjoy the big-screen 4K and 5.1 cinema experience from the comfort of home.
